JOB DESCRIPTION

Assist with generation of County-wide geospatial data and web maps, specifically Public Safety.  The primary role of the GIS intern will be field work data collection of addresses and commonplace names.  The county will supply a smart phone with a GPS Bluetooth receiver.  The intern will need to use their vehicle to drive, with the county reimbursing mileage costs. 

 

Taking into account the pandemic; indoor office time will be avoided.  GIS will attempt to setup a VPN connection into the county network or a laptop will be provided. 



 Position Code: GS9000

Approximate hours would be 37.5 hours a week and 500 hours total from May/June to August/September. 

This position will be posted until Wednesday March 10, 2021 at 4:30pm.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Applicant must be a Geography, Earth Science, or Computer Science Major with GIS experience.
  • Must have experience with the ESRI ArcGIS product and knowledge of vector data.
  • Required skills are GPS, digitizing, database management, geography background/knowledge, with good communication and computer skills.
  • Preference will be given to seniors.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preferred applicant will have computer science experience for customizing GIS web applications but not necessary.
  • Preferred applicant will have experience coding JavaScript, HTML 4 or 5, and document object model, but not necessary
  • Preferred applicant will have working knowledge of libraries such as jquery and dojo, but not necessary
