JOB DESCRIPTION

The Human Resource Generalist supports all Human Resources processes, including recruiting and orienting new employees, managing the Worker's Compensation, FMLA and Short-term and Long-term Disability Plans, managing benefits plans, and auditing internal systems. He or she helps ensure compliance with all HR policies and all federal, state, and local regulations and requirements.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or relevant field of study at least three to five years of related experience as an HR professional. Candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.). PHR and/or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carries out Epworth Villa policies relating to all aspects of Human Resources activity
  • Administers various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel and helps develop and implement personnel policies and procedures
  • Oversees the recruitment effort for employees, including sourcing candidates, placing recruiting advertisements, reviewing applications, assessing qualifications of applicants and making recommendations to supervisors related to applicant’s potential for successful employment
  • Maintains applicant database (currently using Hyrell and Predictive Index)
  • Coordinates interviews, performs background checks and schedules appointments for physical examinations and drug screens, and coordinates with supervisors
  • Reviews applications, assesses qualifications of applicants for open positions, and makes recommendations to supervisors related to applicant’s potential for successful employment
  • Coordinates and educates supervisors on new hire processes, which includes advertising and reviewing/coordinating interviews as needed
  • Coordinates and conducts new hire orientation and trainings
  • Reports Workers’ Compensation injury claims, coordinates restrictions and light duty with Case Manager and Supervisor and maintains OSHA 300 log
  • Oversees administration of Family Medical Leave Act and Short Term Disability Plan
  • Helps with employee relations counseling and exit interviews
  • Coordinates and keeps supervisors updated on the training and compliance needs for their staff in items such as Relias, CPR, TB tests, Evaluations, licenses, etc
  • Responsible for I-9 paperwork and E-Verify, including following policy and form completion
  • Files EEO-1 report annually and maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations
  • Serves as a backup for entering employee information such as personal data, compensation, benefits, performance reviews, licensures, and certifications into Payroll/HR tracking software
  • Serves as a backup for New Hire Paperwork, including issuing badges
  • Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or relevant field of study
  • Three to five years of related experience at a professional level
  • PHR and/or SHRM-CP preferred
  • Experience with recruiting and sourcing candidates and dealing with employee relations issues a must
  • Fluent English speaking/writing communication skills
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Able to deal with confidential information appropriately
  • Confident communicator with residents, staff, leadership, and families
