Under the supervision of the Director of Emergency Communications, the Emergency Services Dispatch Supervisor provides day-to-day supervision and administrative representation for the dispatch center while also performing dispatcher duties. Primary responsibilities involve oversight of subordinate personnel including but not limited to interviewing, training, planning, assigning work, performance appraisal, discipline, addressing complaints, and resolving problems. Additional duties include performing administrative functions, providing technical assistance to staff. This employee answers and directs incoming calls, and should possess excellent communication, organizational, supervisory, and public relation skills. Employees in this class are expected to work rotating shifts including weekends and legal holidays.
Environmental Conditions & Physical Demands
No adverse environmental working conditions exist within this position. Setting is indoors with heating and cooling regulated in a general office environment. Primarily working with and around computers and radios. Exposure to work in confined spaces and excessive noise is possible. Irregular work hours are to be expected including nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating shift schedule.
Sedentary work requiring minimal physical activity associated with an office setting. Daily duties of this position include operating a computer keyboard and/or mouse; holding, gripping, and wearing a communications headset; manual labor including lifting and carrying boxes regularly. High mental pressure and stress may be encountered at times. Must be able to hear and understand spoken communications originating simultaneously from both the headset and other sources in the communications room. Vocal communication required for expressing and exchanging information by means of spoken word.

• Historically or currently listed on any sex offender registry.
• If military service, dishonorable discharge from any branch of the United States Armed Forces. The specifics of other non-honorable discharge codes will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
