JOB DESCRIPTION

Law clerk position within the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s (NCBA) Center for Government Affairs in Washington, D.C. This position will provide support to NCBA’s Environmental Counsel on issues relating to environmental legislation and regulations that impact beef producers.


 
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Analyze legislation and construct redline comparisons for staff review.
  • Research complex legal issues and prepare reports, memos, and briefs for NCBA.
  • Attend Congressional hearings and briefings on behalf of NCBA.
  • Track ongoing litigation and stay abreast of the latest court decisions.
  • Prepare for, and attend, meetings with regulatory staff at EPA, USDA.
  • Attend NCBA conferences and meetings in order to help prepare for, and execute, the Property Rights and Environmental Management Committee meeting.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Currently enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school. This professional must have exceptional interpersonal skills, excellent organization and analytical skills, and a working commitment to our organization’s values.
  • Microsoft suite experience (Excel, Word, and Power point) required. Understanding of environmental statutes (Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Endangered Species Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act among others).
  • A background in agriculture also preferred. Minimal travel is required.
  • Understanding issues regarding National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)
