There are fundamental differences between the positions which exist in your Library tab vs. positions which exist on your My Positions tab.
Library (Position Templates)
A Position Template is a fully-populated position posting stored in your Library that includes its own job description, responsibilities, qualifications, benefits, and job-specific questions, which are referred to as Position Elements (see The Library: A Complete Overview and Position Elements for more information).
Positions templates in your Library are independent of any Location/Department. They, therefore, have no address information and can eventually be Assigned to any Location/Department within your Organization. Address information is automatically inherited from the Location/Department to which a position template is Assigned.
For long term changes, it is often recommended to update your Library position template. In essence, your Library contains the "master" version of your positions. By updating the Library position template, you can assure you are always using the most accurate and preferred information any time a position is needed.
Once a Position Template is complete, you can Assign a copy to your different Locations/Departments as needed. After Assigning a position, you will need to go to the My Positions tab in order to change it to an active/Posted position.
My Positions (Assigned Positions)
The default Status for an Assigned Position Template is "Unposted." If your recently Assigned template is not immediately visible, be sure to check your display settings and amount of templates displayed per page. These settings can be found slightly below and to the far right of the Take Action button.
You can change the Status of a position template by placing a checkmark next to the PID, clicking Take Action, then reviewing your available options (based on the current Status).
Once positions are Assigned, they are unique. The Position Identification Number (PID) will always increase in value, even when Assigning the same template from your Library to multiple Locations/Departments. Likewise, if you make Edits to Assigned position templates, they are unique as well - no other positions will have the changes applied and your Library is unaffected as well. Editing on the My Positions tab is useful for one-off or custom changes to positions as needed.
You may change your position Status at any time. Eventually, you may wish to delete Assigned templates that are no longer in use. This cannot be done on the My Positions tab but can be accomplished under Admin>Organization for permitted Users.
NOTE: Creating and Assigning a Position Template does NOT make a job posting available to applicants. You must Post the position within the My Positions area of the system after it has been Assigned.
