A Position Element is one piece or component of a total Position Template, normally behaving as an information-only section, or interactive pre-screening/historical data request section.
Position Elements can be selected on "Step 2: Add position elements," requiring candidates to provide information and/or complete historical information.
Selected elements of a position template determine what information and results for an applicant are available for review within the Applicant File as a corresponding tab. (Ex: selecting the "Hard Skills" element will allow you to include/define pre-screening Yes/No questions. Each applicant's responses will be logged in their individual applicant file for review).
The most common elements are Soft Skills, Hard Skills, Virtual Interview, References, and Resume. However, additional elements are available.
All Position Templates are made up of Position Elements. Position Templates can, therefore, be as simple or as complex as desired. As an example, the simplest Position Template structure possible is to select only the "Resume" element, then mark it as "Optional." By doing so, candidates will only be required to provide their contact information in order to apply; the resume could be bypassed if they do not have one or wish to provide it since it is optional.
Conversely, although it's possible to include as much information as possible, we strongly encourage testing your created position templates after Posting; try applying to your new position to see the applicant experience from their perspective. The most effective positions strike a balance between obtaining necessary information to make an informed decision, but also respecting an applicant's time and energy by eliminating redundancies and asking only relevant/important pre-screening questions.
Soft Skills – A set of Yes/No questions pertaining to an applicant’s ethical/moral character and/or background screenings/criminal history. The system automatically calculates a percentage score for an applicant based on his or her responses to the Soft Skills questions, which you can view within the Applicant File.
Hard Skills – A set of Yes/No questions that pertain to the requirements/qualifications of the job that enable you to determine if an applicant has the minimum education, training, and/or skills needed. The system automatically calculates a percentage score for an applicant based on his or her responses to the Hard Skills questions, which you can view within the Applicant File.
Virtual Interview – A set of qualitative questions for each posting that require a more in-depth response from the applicant. You can review, rank, and score an applicant’s responses within the Applicant File for a more in-depth level of applicant screening and evaluation.
References – Requires the applicant to provide a specified number of Personal and/or Professional references. For each reference, the applicant must provide a name, phone number, and either company name (professional) or affiliation (personal) for each. Space is provided for the applicant to include a title (professional references only) and email address.
Resume – Requires the applicant to include his or her resume during the application process. Space is provided for the applicant to copy/paste the information.
Warehouse – Requires the applicant to complete a Warehouse Test before the application can be completed. He or she will have 15 minutes to complete a seven-section test that will evaluate his or her skills as they relate to working in a warehouse environment. The applicant will be tested on various math and organization skills in a way that will help you to gauge his or her attention to detail and ability to act under pressure and in a quick and efficient manner.
Residence History – Requires the applicant to provide his or her current address and information for previous places of residence for up to a three year period. For United States or Canadian addresses, he or she must provide the time period (From Month/Year through To Month/Year) and the country, street, city, state, and zip/postal code for each address. If the applicant selects “Other Country” (not the US or Canada), he or she must provide the time period (From Month/Year through To Month/Year) and must then enter the full address in the field provided.
Employment History – Requires the applicant to provide information on previous periods of employment and unemployment.
- For a period of employment, he or she must provide the time period (From Month/Year through To Month/Year), whether it is his or her current job (full time/part time), job title, company/employer name and address information, a contact name and number at the company, compensation, a reason for leaving, and a summary of job responsibilities.
- For a period of unemployment, he or she must provide the time period (From Month/Year through To Month/Year) and a field is provided for optional comments.
Accidents – Requires the applicant to indicate if he or she has been involved in any accidents or traffic violations (except parking tickets) within the past three years. If the applicant selects “Yes” to the accidents question, he or she must provide the date of the accident (Month/Year), whether or not any vehicles were towed, the nature of the accident, and information on any fatalities or injuries.
Convictions – Requires the applicant to indicate if he or she has ever been convicted of a crime other than a minor traffic violation (conviction or forfeiture). If the applicant selects “Yes” to the convictions/forfeitures question, he or she must provide the date (Month/Year), the charge, the location, and the penalty.
Education History – Requires the applicant to provide information on his or her formal education history. He or she must provide the time period (From Month/Year through To Month/Year), school name, city/state in which the school resides, diploma/degree earned or undertaken, major course of study, and whether or not he or she graduated or was certified. A field is provided for optional comments for each entry.
Required Document – Requires the applicant to include any additional information/documentation you require during the application process. For example, you could request a writing sample or proof of immunization or completion of required training. Space is provided for the applicant to copy/paste the information.
